In Europe it is more common to see this item, what I call a "traveling burse," a small bag to hold a pyx for sick call visits. It is a small hand-sewn bag, sometimes made of leftover vestment materials, that clergy use to carry Communion hosts.
The bag is simple in design and is generally an ordination gift or is simply kept in the sacristy. The ones that I have seen are white in color. In this example, the inside is divided into two compartments, seen below, and it has a cord (not generally seen in other versions I have seen in Rome). A corporal is generally kept inside with the pyx.
The version featured here caught my eye; it is the nicest I myself have seen, made in Poland. For questions or to place an order, please contact the tailor directly by clicking here.
