The Relics and Reliquaries of All Saints Day in Rome

One of the great customs that one finds in the Roman church is the practice of adorning altars on the Feast of All Saints with a great host of relics and reliquaries from as many saints as possible. Not unsurprisingly, one of the parishes in Rome that best preserves this tradition is that of Ss. Trinita dei Pellegrini, the usus antiquior parish of the FSSP in the Eternal City. Here is a selection of some of their altars as found on the Feast of All Saints over the years.

In addition, one can find the same on the high altar of St. Peter's Basilica -- and in fact, it may interest our readers to know that the candles on all the altars of the Vatican basilica are lit on All Saints Day in honour of all the saints.
