Before and After: Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at Seton Hall

We have shown many very recent 'Before and After' projects, but I wanted to turn the clock back to the year 2008 when Granda Liturgical Arts and Evergreene Architectural Arts completed a renovation of the Immaculate Conception Chapel at Seton Hall University in New Jersey.

The project in question involved bringing the sanctuary back toward a more classical configuration that was closer to its historical configuration and more appropriate to the gothic style of the building. In addition to this, a new reredos structure and tabernacle were installed, along with other liturgical furnishings, and the muralwork and other decorative painted works were also refreshed and restored.

A view from the nave will give a better sense of the look and feel of the new ordering compared to its immediate predecessor.

A very nicely done project that has revivified the chapel interior with richer colour along with a sanctuary that now better emphasizes the centrality of the altar.

As usual, here are a some views of the "before the before" that shows the chapel as it was historically. As you will see, it has gone through quite a number of incarnations in its brief existence.
