New Thurible Unveiled by Heritage Liturgical

Our good friend Enzo Selvaggi of Heritage Liturgical unveiled a new thurible/censer that was custom made in Spain. The artist was Emilio Leon of Cordoba, who is reviving time-honored artigianale methods of silver smithing. The details and truly remarkable, as is the size and scope of design and execution.

The thurible is already being called the "great censer," due to its massive size. An entirely new design conception, this bespoke commission was custom designed by Heritage Liturgical in Neo-Gothic style as a completely ex novo composition. It is the tallest liturgical censer in the world. It even surpasses the famed botafumeiro of Compostela (approx. 5.25 feet tall) and also that of Cava de' Tirreni. Indeed, it is nearly six feet high.

The botafumeiro was unveiled on June 14th as part of Christendom College's Summer Consortium event. It will be used for select liturgical celebrations throughout the year, celebrating the pilgrim spirit and the medieval traditions of Europe. The story can be seen here

Hearty congratulations to Heritage Liturgical, a solid firm that does a fantastic job bringing together great talent and gifted artists from near and far who always deliver, making genuine contributions to authentic liturgical arts.

Heritage Liturgical is also known and renowned for their work on the new St. Michael's Abbey in California, a 120 million dollar project that realized a beautiful chapel with stunning mosaics, thanks in no small part to Enzo and his talented team who created a symphony of color that has been described as a "forest of the sacred."
