Murals by Jericho is based out of Peoria, Illinois. The firm is operated by artists Andrew Hattermann and Robert Hill and while mural work is one of their primary skillsets, as evidenced by their company name, they also provide other liturgical design and consulting services.
Recently they shared news about a current project at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Argyle, Texas. Murals by Jericho was brought into the project to design and executed all of the painted work you will see in the photos, including the sanctuary mural depicting Christ the High Priest, the Apostles and various saints and Old Testament righteous.
Sitting above the sanctuary wall is a beautiful depiction of two Renaissance styled angels, holding a scroll with the Sanctus.
In addition to this, we also find a beautifully painted dome at the crossing of the church. The dome has been painted gold with a central medallion depicting the Holy Spirit. Around the perimeter of the dome are denoted the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.
As noted, Murals by Jericho also do other work beyond painted work. In this particular project, they also designed all of the wood and marble sanctuary furnishings, including the altar, reredos, ambo and lectern.
MBJ also designed the baptismal font as well as beautiful decorative inlaid marble flooring throughout the sanctuary and nave.
All around, nobly and tastefully done.
