Founded in 1999, the interpretation and distinctive designs of the Saint Bede Studio are solidly in the Catholic tradition. The output reflects well the spirit of the Medieval, Gothic Revival, and Early Baroque periods. Orders are custom made for clients and made to last many years.
Below are images of the Saint Bede mitre made for Pope Benedict, a triumphal achievement and acclaimed by not a few as one of the most exquisite mitres donned by the Pontiff during his lifetime. It matches well the chasuble made of brocade fabric, also by the Saint Bede Studio.
A great many of their fine works can be seen on their excellent blog site: saintbedestudio.blogspot.com.
Vestment creations include noble mitres in the Medieval footprint and chasubles in the ancient conical form and in the Neri style.
The beautiful silk damasks of floriated designs are stunning, often with shining taffeta lining and lovely orphrey braids with Catholic designs, stylized with customized monogram motifs and beautiful galloons with religious patterns. The high level of creativity and style is an inspiration and deserves to be well known in North America, where there is a large and burgeoning market for high quality vestment making that is affordable and on time. The colorful themed prints on the orphreys are most impressive, seen below.
